Sculpture Placement Group (SPG) invites you for an evening of presentations and discussion exploring their recent research project, Smash It Up, funded by the Henry Moore Foundation, and their most recent project Sculpture Adoption Scheme, piloted at Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art 2018. Contributions will come from an artist and an organisation taking part in this experimental pilot project that seeks to extend the life of sculptural objects.

For the second half of the event, we will invite experts from other sectors to interrogate and discuss the economic and practical challenges faced by artists maintaining a sculptural practice. Together, along with SPG and other contributors they will discuss prevalent models found within the visual arts, consider the success and challenges of the alternative models posed by SPG and learn more about models used within other sectors. The discussion is aimed at informing Smash It Up , a research project concluding in December 2018, that hopes to conclude by recommending more sustainable ways of working.
